Ukraine wants to build a more decentralized energy system and is looking for innovative solutions for this. Oksana Markarova, the ambassador of Ukraine to the USA, said this at the economic summit organized by the media startup Semafor in Washington.
As part of the summit, the famous American journalist, editor, and blogger Steve Clemons invited Oksana Markarova to a fireside chat to discuss the current state and the economic future of Ukraine.
In particular, the presenter was interested in how quickly Ukraine managed to restore the destroyed infrastructure.
– We distinguish between capital reconstruction, which will take place after the victory, and quick recovery, which we are doing right now, – noted Oksana Markarova.
Many did not believe, she added, that Ukraine would be able to hold out, given Russia’s constant missile attacks. However, thanks to partners, especially the USA, who found the necessary equipment and also provided air defense equipment for protection, we managed to survive the winter.
Currently, Ukraine is facing the task of decentralizing the energy sector and is looking for innovative solutions for this.
– Given the threats that exist, we cannot simply restore what was before. We have to build something new, the ambassador emphasized.
According to her, reconstruction of infrastructure requires mass mobilization of private capital and attraction of investors. Currently, the Ukrainian government is working to provide them with security and the necessary level of stability.
