More than a hundred guests gathered on May 18 for a charity evening organized by the Ukrainian Reconstruction Fund in Bayonne, New Jersey, USA.
The Chandelier Catering banquet hall was completely filled with people: representatives of the diaspora, businessmen, politicians, artists, and caring residents of the city and the state who came to support Ukraine.
It was very nice to hear the welcome speech from the Mayor of Bayonne, Mr. Jimmy Davis, who has put a lot of effort into making the event happen. On behalf of the city community, he expressed his condolences for what Ukrainians on their land are going through at this time. He wished Ukraine victory and assured that the American people will always be with Ukraine in heart, soul, and deeds.
The well-known American actor, and ambassador of the Ukrainian Reconstruction Fund Paul DeAngelo thanked those present for their affection for Ukraine.
– We are thousands of kilometers away from the land that pays a high price for freedom and the protection of democratic values. This is another continent, another reality. But if you are here today, it means that you feel the need to be close to Ukraine, – said the chair of the URF Pavlo Kostyuk. – Donating now is the most effective way to help the people of Ukraine and bring victory closer.
The Fund organized an evening for its guests that immersed them in the Ukrainian atmosphere: they enjoyed national dishes, performances by folk bands and performers, and an exhibition of paintings by Ukrainian artists.
