Attorney General Merrick B. Garland Will Honor Law Enforcement, ICAC Task Force at Missing Children’s Day Ceremony in Washington, DC, on Wednesday, May 24 at 2 P.M.

WASHINGTON – The Justice Department will honor law enforcement officers and an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force for their efforts to find missing children and prevent child sexual exploitation during the 40^th Annual National Missing Children’s Day commemoration at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 24, in Washington, D.C. In addition, the Department will recognize the winner of the National Missing Children’s Poster Contest, a fifth grader from Brooklyn, N.Y.

In 1983, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed May 25 as National Missing Children’s Day in memory of Etan Patz, a six-year-old boy who disappeared from a New York City street corner on May 25, 1979. On this day each year, we honor his memory and the heroic and exemplary efforts of individuals, agencies, and organizations that protect children.
